Presidential Candidates Criticized Planned Parenthood after Controversial Video Spread on the Internet

Some Republican presidential candidates are doubting the Planned Parenthood scheme after a controversial new video spread on Tuesday reached their knowledge. The video is believed to have been created by an undercover group of anti-abortion activists.

In the video, there was a member of the anti-abortion Center for Medical Progress who claims that he needed to buy human fetal tissue for the medical research being performed in their start-up biotech firm. The Federal law allows women to voluntarily donate tissues for medical practices, but it is very illegal in the United States to purchase human fetal tissue.

The Planned Parenthood denies the accusations, and mentioned that the video is highly edited. The Vice President of Communications for Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Eric Ferrero, released a statement regarding the issue. “At several of our health centers, we help patients who want to donate tissue for scientific research, and we do this just like every other high-quality health care provider does — with full, appropriate consent from patients and under the highest ethical and legal standards.”

The governor of Louisiana, Bobby Jindal, initiated an investigation after seeing the video. He asked for the assistance of the FBI and the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals to make an active participation for the investigation.

Jindal said that, “Today’s video of a Planned Parenthood official discussing the systematic harvesting and trafficking of human body parts is shocking and gruesome… This same organization is seeking to open an abortion clinic in New Orleans.”

The only woman running for president, Fiorina who is pro-life, was disgusted with the video calling it tragic and outrageous.

She said, “This isn’t about ‘choice.’ It’s about profiting on the death of the unborn while telling women it’s about empowerment.”

Dr. Ben Carson, a retired neurosurgeon, emailed the CNN saying, “Planned Parenthood and their enablers must be stopped from these barbaric practices. I am urging Congress to eliminate every last dime of funding for Planned Parenthood.” He added, “Finally, I ask where is the Department of Justice on this clear violation of Federal law?”

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee announced his condemnation to the video through a tweet post, “I have pledged to defund #PlannedParenthood! Stand with me.”

The presidential candidates, Jindal, Fiorina, Carson and Huckabee, hope to get the favor of GOP conservatives in the upcoming election.
