One of the most popular names in the world of gaming, the Mortal Kombat series has been around for quite a long time. The game has been a part of the pop culture and various characters have become a part of modern day programming across mediums. The company is quite a successful brand in itself as it has diversified across the borders of being ‘just a game’. There have been movies, animated shorts, games, books, comics, action figures and much more around this franchise, making it a thundering success across the markets.
The company last year released Mortal Kombat X – which brought in a few changes, but was largely a failure in the markets. Over time the game did stabilize, with over 500,000 digital copies being sold in Steam. However, they now intend to improve it this year with the release of the Mortal Kombat XL.
Mortal Kombat XL is expected to bring in some major changes, including the arrival of newer characters, newer arenas as well as better storylines. Mortal Kombat XL, too, is being developed by NetherRealm, who worked on the previous edition of the game as well.
The game is expected to release shortly, as almost a month remains to the 1st of March. Not expected to be something ‘drastically’ different from the previous edition, the game is expected to bring in some minor updates which help improve the overall user experience.
In a major disappointment, the company has now made it official that the game will not be releasing for the PC gamers. “Mortal Kombat XL and Kombat Pack 2 will available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One only,” said NetherRealm’s Community Specialist Tyler Landsdown.
The game has been a part of PC for quite a long while, and as of this moment it is unknown if this disassociation is permanent, or NeatherRealm intends to introduce the game for PC over time.
