How is emotion a way of knowing?

Emotions as a source of knowledge Emotions may lead us to knowledge which other ways of knowing cannot reveal. Emotion lies, together with imagination, at the basis of empathy. It would be very difficult to (try to) understand what others think and feel without being able to rely on emotions.

Is there any knowledge that can be attained solely through emotion?

Emotion alone doesn’t seem able to produce theoretical knowledge. In fact, emotion often obstructs it. The very idea of moral “knowledge” is a strange one, but one might say that knowing what the right thing to do in a given situation might be said to be determined through feeling.

What emotions are learned?

Some emotions are not expressed in the same way by all people. These emotions are called learned emotions. The expression of learned emotions depends on the social environment in which a person grows up. Love, guilt, and shame are examples of learned emotions.
