Does covering a smoke detector with a plastic bag work?
Fortunately, it’s easy to cover a smoke detector and prevent it from going off at an inopportune time. Just place a strip of painter’s tape over the unit’s sensor chamber, or wrap it up with a shower cap or plastic bag and secure it with a rubber band.

Can you mix smoke detector brands?
Absolutely! You can mix and match hardwired First Alert, BRK, and Onelink models. All of our current models use the same wiring harness and connector. We do not recommend mixing different brands since we can only guarantee the performance of First Alert and BRK alarms.
