Microsoft, for over the past 40 years, has been among the biggest, most dominating names in the world of technology. The company has brought forward a large number of changes into the mix, and it has now brought forward major revolutions in the markets of technology. Microsoft’s next move forward has been towards the world of smartphone technology and the company had big plans to tap into the mobile phone markets with the Windows 10 Mobile OS and the Windows Phone devices.
However things just didn’t turn out the way they were supposed to be, and the Windows 10 Mobile OS and the Windows Phone devices ended up being a monumental failure for the company. Microsoft has been trying hard to amend many mistakes of theirs but nothing is working out.
The company has been bleeding out tens of billions of dollars over the Nokia Deal, and has lost out major money here. The market share too is plummeting, as the company has now fallen down from 3% in 2014-15 to 1.7% in 2015-16.
The investors have been speculated to be extremely upset over this fact that the websites have not been performing as well as they were expected to. Microsoft has now been anticipated to bring forward a much needed change into the markets of technology and it is expected that the company would indeed be making bigger changes.
The word in the markets now is that the Windows 10 Mobile OS as well as the Windows Phone division at large might be soon shutting down. Microsoft has already sold off a portion of their mobile phone business to HMD Global and FIH Mobiles, and has fired 1850 employees from their mobile phone division, and the next drastic step could indeed be that of shutting down the division completely.
More announcements are expected to follow in the days to come.
