Chevrolet is releasing a new midsize off roader, the 2018 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Diesel, in spring. This is said to be the rival of Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro, which a price much expensive than Colorado ZR2. This top of the line Colorado could be another bargain deal from Chevy.
This is another interesting release from Chevrolet since it can run smoothly in the desert, crawl on rocky roads, and go wherever it pleases. Chevrolet made few changes from its initial appearance, offers, and engine during the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show.
Chevy promises the truck buyers to drive and play dirty and smoothly at the same time.
2018 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Diesel – Exterior and Interior
The interior and exterior of the new Chevy pickup offered a rugged good look that appeals even to younger drivers. Chevy designed the small pickup with a front and rear electronic locking differentials, a 3.5-inch wider track, and a 2-inch lift. The automaker included a list of standard features like tow hooks, spray-in bed liner, 31-inch Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires, an all-terrain spare tire, an eight-inch touchscreen, an aluminum skid plate and much more.
The Colorado ZR2 is built with the first off-road version of the new Multimatic Dynamic Suspensions Spool Valve dampers which is the same version used by the latest Chevy Camaro Z/28 and other Formula One cars. This will be less stress for the driver. It also comes with steel rocker protectors.
2018 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Diesel – Engine and Performance
The 2018 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Diesel has an off-road technology that runs the pickup’s powertrain. Colorado ZR2 engine is a 3.6-liter V6 with 308 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. They also offer a 2.8-liter Duramax diesel engine with 186 horsepower and 368 lb-ft of torque. The cost for the upgrade from 3.6-liter V6 to diesel has not been announced yet. The diesel is made with a six-speed automatic.
All 2018 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Diesel will be built with a four-wheel drive. This is one of the best features the new pickup has. Its 4×4 system is all computer-controlled. The spool valve shocks are one of the latest technologies in cars that use magnetorheological fluid to measure the flow of fluid within the damper that automatically sets the engine to a proper setting in any given situation.
Furthermore, Colorado ZR2 has a hill-descent control and off-road mode for easy transmission shifting and throttle mapping. This will add control as drivers venture on a difficult path. Drivers can easily pick between Mud, Desert, or Mountain in the off-road mode technology.
2018 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Diesel – Price and Release Date
The 2018 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Diesel will be on sale this spring starting at $40,995 base price for gas engine choice. It is $1,000 cheaper than the base price of its rival – Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro. Interested buyers can easily get their hands on the new vehicle from dealerships at the said cost.
The price for the diesel engine upgrade is still not announced. The pickup is capable of towing 5,000 pounds of weight and carrying 1,100 pounds of payload with no difficulty.
