According to a recent study conducted in the United States, it has been found out that although various forms of advertisements of e-cigarettes increases the chances go youngsters trying to try such devises, the most number of teenagers are drawn to such devices through online advertisements.
In order to find out which form of advertising of e-cigarettes were most persuasive to the teenagers, the researchers evaluated the data collected from a nationwide survey that studied around 22,000 middle school and high school students from grade 6 to 12. The study included students from 12 to 18 years old.
The researchers noted that when middles schools students said that they regularly saw advertisements of e-cigarettes online, that made them almost three times more likely to use such gaping devices that their peers who had never seen such advertisements. The researchers also noted that the students from which school who saw the online ads of e-cigarettes frequently were almost two times more likely to use such devices.
Commenting on the findings, lead author of the study and Smoking and Health at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta’s, Dr. Tushar Singh said, “Smoking and Health at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta.”
Singh further said in a mail, “The situation is compounded by the fact that e-cigarette online vendors are using social network services to market their products – and many online vendor websites are very easy for youth to enter and make purchases,” Reuters reported.
Previous studies have also shown that those teenagers who try e-cigarettes are more likely to switch to conventional tobacco cigarettes than those adolescents who have never tried such devices before.
According to the findings of a report which was released in April, almost three million middle and high school students said that they were users of e-cigarettes in a CDC survey conducted in 2015, the number increased from around 2.5 million student users in the year 2014.
