It has finally happened! After months and months of waiting, the users of the older, Nokia Lumia devices, have finally received the Windows 10 Mobile OS update. Microsoft had been expected to release this update for the users of the Nokia Lumia phones since the past December, but after being delayed thrice, the update came out rather unannounced last month.
Ever since the release, the Nokia Lumia users have been overjoyed as this seems like some sort of a ‘moral victory’ for them. Microsoft Mobile users had complained in the past that they are not getting attention from the company any more, and Microsoft has been neglecting them, giving the newer non-Nokia phones a greater priority.
However, the company has silenced their critics with the release of this Windows 10 Mobile OS update for the users of the Nokia Lumia devices.
The Windows 10 Mobile OS update came out for the users of many older Nokia Lumia phones such as Lumia 1520, 930, 640, 640XL, 730, 735, 830, 532, 535, 540, 635 1GB, 636 1GB, 638 1GB, 430, 435, BLU Win HD w510u, BLU Win HD LTE x150q, and the MCJ Madosma Q501 devices.
There has been quite a controversy over the limited models, as the Lumia 520, Lumia 1020 and Lumia 1320 have been three of the top names missing from this list. Many other devices too have not been included and the company has explained by saying the following in their blog post:
“This list includes a limited set of Windows Phone 8.1 devices and does not include some devices that are currently running Windows 10 Mobile in the Windows 10 Mobile Insider program. As Windows 10 delivers significant new innovations, many older devices are not able to successfully upgrade without an impact on the customer experience. Our goal is to only offer the Windows 10 upgrade to devices that we are confident can continue to deliver a good customer experience,” the company said.
