Games have been regarded as very addictive by many, short game play may pave the way for many straight hours of playing sessions. A gamer from Russia is a testament of what game addiction could bring. The man was addicted to Fallout 4 and his life was devastated because of it.
In a report issued by RT, the man has just filed a lawsuit against Bethesda Softworks and localization firm Softklab for not giving caution that the game can be exceedingly addictive and would pose threats to his health and welfare. The article states that his life was ruined after he installed the game and was glued to for three straight weeks.
The complainant, a 28 year old from the Krasnoyarsk, ended up losing his work since he skipped his job to play Fallout. He also shunned away from his friends and disregarded and forced his wife to abandon him. As expected, his health deteriorated, since he wasn’t sleeping or eating.
The plaintiff said in a statement that, “If I knew that this game could have become so addictive, I would have become a lot more wary of it.” He said further, “I would not have bought it, or I would have left it until I was on holiday or until the New Year holidays.”
Konstantin Bobrov, the director of the “Single Center for Protection” legal service quipped that his agency aided the man make the initial claim, and is keen to help him in court.
Bobrov told Единый Центр, “However, we do not have to question the legal qualification of our company, and we are ready to see how far we can go in this business. “”Russia does not like the judicial practice of resolving disputes between ordinary consumers and foreign companies for compensation for moral damage.”
The suit pursues 500,000 troubles in compensation which amounts to $7000.
