With Apple MacBook Pro 2016’s rumored October release date nearing, numerous reports about the highly anticipated laptop’s specs, features and price details are surfacing online. Notably, Apple hasn’t officially revealed anything about MacBook Pro 2016 specs, not even the release date.
It was earlier believed that the next-gen MacBook Pro would give a tough fight to Microsoft’s Surface Book 2, which was also expected to get a 2016 release. But, now, it is clear that Microsoft won’t be updating its existing Surface line of devices this year, except for a new Surface All-In-One PC, codenamed “Cardinal”. So, the Cupertino’s decision to launch the MacBook Pro update this holiday season would definitely work its favor as there would be no tough competition to face.
Talking about 2016 MacBook Pro specs and features, the next gen laptop is expected to be the thinnest and the lightest laptop ever from Apple. Tech enthusiasts are expecting that the upcoming MacBook models will sport Intel’s Kaby Lake processor. But, Rhoda Alexander, director of tablet and notebook PCs at IHS Markit Technology, claims that use of Kaby Lake chipset in 2016 MacBook Pro is very much unlikely.
Alexander told Forbes that the Kaby Lake processor was not available for use when Apple began working on the laptop update. So, there are high chances that the yet-to-be-announced laptops will come powered by Intel’s Skylake processor.
Among other specs, the MacBook Pro 2016 is rumored to get an OLED display on the keyboard, which will replace the physical function keys, a Polaris-based (AMD) graphics processor, a 4K Apple display with 5120 x 2880 screen resolution, macOS Sierra, a Touch ID power button, a Force touch trackpad, four USB-C ports and Apple’s personal assistant, Siri.
As far as MacBook Pro 2016 release date is concerned, Apple is expected to schedule a Mac launch event on Thursday, October 27, 2016.
