The iPhone 8 is in the news yet again as renders of the Apple smartphone have emerged online. The new renders show off the smartphone, also dubbed the iPhone X, in detail.
The leaked images of the iPhone 8 show the front and back of the impending handset. The renders are courtesy leakster KK.
This is not the first time the tipster has shared images of the iPhone 8. Earlier in April, he shared a few crude sketches of the impending Apple flagship. The drawing hinted that the iPhone 8 would not include the home button.
While the latest leaked images of the alleged iPhone 8 show the device’s front and back panels, the veracity of the renders is circumspect. However, KK has a fairly reliable track record for leaks.
Leaked iPhone 8 Renders: What Do They Reveal
This time round the supposed iPhone 8 diagram and render shared by KK show a handset, which is tinier than the one evidenced by his older leak.
The latest renders show a handset that measures 5.41 inches long and 2.66 inches wide. These dimensions are nearly identical to those of the predecessor iPhone 7s. However, the thickness of the impending iPhone 8 was not shared by the leaked images.
The latest leak reaffirms older rumors and points to a nearly bezel-less front display on the upcoming smartphone.
According to the diagram, the handset’s front display measures 5.768 inches and covers almost the entire front part of the device, barring the 0.16-inch (about 4 millimeters) bezel on the four sides of the screen.
The leak also points to a 2.5D curved glass covering the display of the iPhone 8, which ties in with previous assertions.
The latest leak also shares that a narrow earpiece is located on the front of the handset, on the top. One can espy the sensors, cameras, and other components as well, which are located to the left and right of the earpiece.
These components would possibly be the ambient light sensor, the mic, a proximity sensor, the front camera, as well as the alleged 3D sensor. Interestingly, all the components appear as if they have been embedded under the screen.
Leak Contradicts Previous Assertions?
The tipster previously asserted that the home button would not be present in the front display. It would be replaced by a visible Touch ID sensor.
However, the latest leak shows the display taking up the entire front area of the smartphone, and there is no dedicated home button or a Touch ID sensor.
Early rumors hinted that Apple was looking to incorporate a Touch ID in the phone’s display. However, latest reports suggest that the company has been encountering several hurdles while perfecting the technology. Therefore, Apple may resort to embedding the sensor on the back of the device.
However, one of the leaked renders of the iPhone 8’s back panel does not show any dedicated space for a Touch ID sensor. Thus, for now, the scenario mentioned above remains just a theory.
On the other hand, the camera setup shown in the leaked renders doesn’t divert much from the previous rumors. The rear panel of the supposed iPhone 8 images, however, shows a vertical dual-camera setup with a LED flash in tow.
With the iPhone 8 expected to launch in the second half of the year, the veil of mystery surrounding the smartphone will finally be lifted. It remains to be seen what features eventually make it to the device.
