Off late, a major bug has been detected in the Safari Web Browser where the users are suffering from a major crash issue, where their browsers have been crashing upon performing different activities. Be it opening a new tab, or even clicking on the address bar, the Safari browser has been crashing the browser as well as freezing the computer at times. This has been a problem which has been recently spotted in the wake of the emergence of the Crash Safari website.
As of now there have been no official comments on what the problem is and why it is happening. However, Steven Troughton-Smith, an iOS developer has thrown light on the issue, as he says that this bug is actually related to Safari’s search suggestions.
Apple has, as of now acknowledged no such issue, and is soon expected to fix it. However, while Apple has no patches or update that address or fix this issue, an unofficial workaround has been detected which tweaks the way the browser works and helps it to not-crash.
- Open Safari Browser
- Go to Preferences
- Go to Search
- Un-select the ‘Include Search Engine Selections’ button
- Restart Browser
Another alternative is to use the incognito mode which can be accessed by clicking on file, and then clicking on New Private Window
For iOS users –
- Go to settings
- Find and open Safari there
- Turn off Safari Suggestions
For the iOS users, the alternative is to tap the right-most button on the bottom strip of Safari Browser to open the tab-switcher, and there select ‘Private’.
The crashing of Safari browser has become quite a wave in the last week, and many users from around the globe have been complaining about the issue. Apple is expected to soon release a fix for the same, and the issue is expected to be fully resolved by the end of this week.
